Flute/Piccolo Repair:
Minor Overhaul - This will get your flute into good playing condition. The entire flute is checked. If
the head and foot joints are loose, they will be tightened. The head joint cork is replaced if required. Keys are straightened and
aligned. Screws and rods are lubricated. Includes cleaning the inside of the body and head joint. Up to 2 pads and 3 felts/corks
may be replaced. Other parts are extra.
If more than 5 pads need to be replaced, the flute should be completely repadded due to the
difficulty and expense required to make adjustments.
Flute Repad & Overhaul
In addition to the minor overhaul, the flute is completely
cleaned, and polished. Dents are removed. Keys are leveled and swedged where required.
All pads are replaced using premium yellow
skin pads. The head joint cork is replaced. Key felts and/or corks are replaced. Springs are replaced as necessary.
The keys and body are completely polished. Cosmeticly, it will look only as good as the plating or metal will allow. Refinishing in
silver or nickel plate is available for an additional charge.
Before shipping, the flute is allowed to set and then final adjustments or
pad seating is done and it is play tested.
Silver Restoration
How do you know your pads should be replaced?
The first sign, of course, is that the flute does not play well, but that could be due to many things. You should check to see if all keys are closing properly and there are no missing pads or obvious leaks. The next check is for holes and tears that expose the underlying felt. See the photo below.
