LOW KEY MUSIC
Saxophone Repair:
Good Playing Condition: Involves a complete inspection of all components. This includes condition of the pads
and corks as well as any operational problems such as binding keys, sticking pads and loose screws. Minor bent keys are corrected.
Post alignment is checked as is bumper heights. Up to 5 small key corks and/or felts are replaced where needed. Up to 2 Pads are replaced.
Neck cork replacement, additional pads, and other parts are extra. Dent work and solder repairs are also done for additional
charge.
If more than 6 pads need to be replaced, I recommend a complete repad to be a more cost effective solution.
Saxophone
Repad & Mechanical Overhaul
The saxophone is taken apart and the body and neck are chemically cleaned inside and out. Most minor
dents are removed if possible without damaging the finish. Keys are leveled and swedged as required. All pads are replaced with your
choice of pad type. Most key corks are replaced unless in excellent condition. The neck cork is replaced and fit to your preferred
mouthpiece. All felts are replaced. Springs are replaced or adjusted as necessary. If the keys are nickel plated and need to
be buffed there is an additional charge. ( See pictures below) The sax will be play and regulated before shipping. Mouthpieces
and other accessory repair is not included.
Saxophone Complete Overhaul
Includes the mechanical overhaul/repad with the addition
of stripping of the finish, complete dent removal, and refinishing or replating of body, neck, and keys
Your Choice of Pads:
How do you know your pads should be replaced?
The first sign, of course, is that the sax does not play well, but that could be due to many things. You should look for discoloration of the pads indicating water damage. Pads should be soft to the touch and not hard and brittle. The next check is for holes and tears that expose the underlying felt. See the photo below.

We do complete Overhauls and refinishing to make your sax look and play like new.
The first priority in any refinish job must be to respect the integrity and originality of the instrument. We have seen the results of over-buffing and lack of proper care when refinishing. We are extremey particular with our work. Many shops specialize in servicing large numbers of rental instruments where the emphasis is that it is shiny and ready to go to the next customer. We are true restoration shop. We take time to do a proper job. Sending a vintage or professsional sax to just any shop could result in serious depreciation.
