Clarinet Repair
There are many varieties of clarinets. The most popular is the Bb soprano. This is typically what students will begin playing and can be found in plastic/resin material or wood body. Most lower priced and beginner models will be resin material The keys and body rings are typical nickel or chrome plated. Regardless of the material, there are major differences in the construction and quality of entry level instruments and professional quality instruments. We cannot describe here in detail all the many differences. Our repair techniques and materials are matched with the needs of the instrument. There are some instruments that fall below our standards and may not be candidates for repair. The repair cost could outweigh the instrument value or we could determine that the instrument would not stay in good repair due to it's quality.
Clarinet Minor Overhaul
This is an extension of what some shops call a "playing condition" or PC repair. It includes general cleaning and making minor repairs to get the clarinet in good playing condition. Up to four pads and one tenon cork is included along with small corks for adjustment and regulation of the keys. A Mechanical overhaul will be recommended if the work required exceeds half of what would be required for an overhaul,
Clarinet repad & Mechanical Overhaul
In addition to the minor overhaul services, this includes complete disassembly and cleaning. All the pads are replaced with standard double skin pads of the correct thickness. All keys are polished. Keys can be replated for additional cost if required. All tenon corks are replaced unless they are in excellent condition. Springs are replaced where necessary. The clarinet is adjusted and played.
Wood clarinets will have the bore lightly oiled. Cracks in wood clarinets are repaired for an additional charge. Mouthpieces and other accessory repairs are not included.
Pro Model Clarinet repad & Mechanical Overhaul
For Professional, Vintage and upper Intermediate wood clarinets only.
In addition to the normal repad described above, The wood clarinet body, barrel and bell are then conditioned using natural organic oils. This process allow time for the wood to absorb the oil and react.
All keys are polished and leveled. Keys are swedged as necessary to restore correct action. All pads are replaced using premium quality pads. Adjustment is checked and then the clarinet is played and adjusted.
